Our Story

Hi - I’m Lauren, and I love flowers. I started my flower journey a few years ago as a dahlia and cut flower grower, and then created Burgh Bouquets (now Roots to Petals Studio) to share my specialty cut flowers with my community.  I am located in Oakmont, Pennsylvania and offer garden-inspired bouquets and floral arrangements for delivery throughout the Northeast Pittsburgh region, including Oakmont, Verona, Blawnox, Fox Chapel, O'Hara, Indianola, Dorseyville, Aspinwall, Highland Park, Etna, East Liberty, Shadyside, Plum, Penn Hills, New Kensington, Arnold, Lower Burrell, Cheswick, Springdale, Harmar, and Harwick.

Roots to Petals is not a traditional florist and doesn't offer arrangements using typical flowers like lilies, carnations, standard roses, ferns, and baby's breath. Our designs incorporate locally grown specialty cut flowers (including our own) whenever possible, and we source similar specialty cut flowers from warmer climates out of season. Our floral business focuses on four main categories: everyday bouquets and arrangements, funeral and sympathy flowers and plants, Flower Club bouquet subscriptions, and corporate/party/event florals, including interactive Flower Bars.

I am THRILLED to announce that in early February 2025 I am opening a studio and shop in the old Oakmont Bakery building.  We will continue to offer the same garden-inspired bouquets and arrangements as well as an in-store flower bar, a wide variety of houseplants, a succulent and air plant bar, pottery, botanical gifts and personal items, modern greeting cards, gardening items, and specialty outdoor seasonal plants like spring potted bulbs, specialty hanging baskets, container gardens, potted dahlias, and more.  We also will offer custom container and hanging basket plantings to ensure your home or business entry looks alive and beautiful all year long.

Roots to Petals' mission is growing together with our community, including supporting our local flower growers/farmers and sharing our passion for and knowledge about flowers, plants, and gardening through studio interactions, events and regular workshops.  We will host frequent workshops covering all things flowers, plants, and gardening, including flower arranging, seed starting, dahlia growing, building succulent gardens, building container gardens, wreath making, and more.  I can't wait to meet you and grow with you!

The studio also has a small private room available for rent that can accommodate up to 12 people for a wide variety of events, such as small team-building events, private workshops, guided assembly of DIY bouquets and arrangements for weddings and events, small showers and parties, and more.
